Latest additions includes cages, stabilizers, panoramic heads and a slider
Filmmakers who shoot with Sony Alpha 7-series cameras, the Panasonic DMC-GH3 and GH4 cameras, Blackmagic’s Pocket Cinema Camera and other DSLRS and camcorders may be interested in the new video accessories from Sevenoak. The expanded Sevenoak range features camera cages, stabilizers, a slider and two panoramic heads to open up a variety of creative shooting possibilities for videographers.
The new aluminium cage units for Sony, Panasonic and Blackmagic cameras are said to ‘expand the functionality and ease the manoeuvrability’ of the models. The SK-GHC20 unit is for use with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH3 and GH4 and adds protection, stability and mounting options to the cameras. The kit includes a form-fitting cage for full access to the camera’s controls, buttons, battery and SD card slot, as well as a top handgrip, micro HDMI adaptor cable, HDMI plug protector and a quick release base plate. Cold shoes and 1/4” and 3/8” mounting points allow users to mount different accessories.
The comparable aluminium cage kit for use with the Sony A7, A7S and A7R cameras is the SK-A7C1 unit, while the SK-BPC10 is built for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. Both of these cages have all of the features of the Panasonic-compatible SK-GHC20 model but feature additional built-in wooden side grips.
There are also two additions to Sevenoak’s Camera Stabilizer Pro Series to aid smooth, handheld shooting. The SK-SW Pro1 mini camera stabilizer is designed for use with DSLRs or small camcorders that weigh up to 2.5kgs. Made from carbon fibre and aluminium its features a flexible handgrip, three-axis gimbal, adjustable counterweight discs, foldable legs, front and back trim screws, a quick release camera mounting platform and scale marks. The SK-SW Pro2 has all the same features but takes the payload limit up to a slightly more hefty 3kgs.
The new arrivals in the Sevenoak range also include the SK-TXS80 80cm carbon fibre slider for smooth shooting whilst, for filming time-lapse panoramics, a new Mechanical Panoramic Head is available in two ‘speeds’ – 60 minutes (the SK-EBH60 unit) and 120 minutes (the SK-EBH120). Sevenoak products are distributed in the UK and Ireland by Kenro.
