New T2.4 aperture prime available in multiple mount choices

It’s not an inexpensive piece of glass but the new Schneider 18mm Xenon full-frame prime lens is now available to order and is said to be the fastest of its type on the market, thanks to a T2.4 aperture.

The lens features feet and metre scales and comes in Canon EF, Nikon F and Sony E mounts, as well as the ‘industry-standard’ PL mount. It has a close focusing distance of just 0.4 metres and incorporates a circular 14-blade aperture, which is said to offer smooth and consistent bokeh on each of the T stops of the lens.

Compatibility for quick swapping
For fast set-ups the 18mm optic is said to be identical in size to the rest of Schneider’s full-frame primes, which should make it easy for quick swapping in and out of lenses without any need to adjust your rig. The consistency of size and gear locations within the Schneider range should also help for easy compatibility with existing cameras and accessories. The lens weighs in at a solid 1530g and the glass has had an anti-reflection coating applied.

Xenon prime lens range
The addition of the 18mm lens means the Xenon full-frame lens line-up now comprises the 18mm T2.4 alongside a 25mm T2.1, a 35mm T2.1, a 50mm T2.1 and a 100mm T2.1. All of them are available in Canon EF, PL, Nikon F and Sony E mounts with the option to have the mounts changed at an optical service house.
