Buoyed by the increasing demand for 4K video, Samyang has unveiled two new lenses in its Xeen range
Samyang Optics has introduced two new lenses in to its Xeen premium cinema lens line-up. The Xeen 14mm T3.1 and Xeen 35mm T1.5 lenses bring the set of lenses in the Xeen range to five, making a percect set of 14, 24, 35, 50 and 80mm lenses.
The lenses are housed in aluminium, so should be able to robust enough to survive tough on-set conditions. Whilst optically they are both designed, and coated, to provide the optical performance required for shooting at 4K resolution, and higher, whilst the iimaging circle is large enough to cover a full frame sensor,. This makes them perfect for use with the new Canon EOS 1D X II or Nikon D5 cameras. In fact the lenses will be available in 5 different mounts, including PL, Micro Four Thirds and Sony E mounts, as well as the aforementioned Canon and Nikon.

The ultra-wide 14mm lens will obviously hold a lot of interest for those using cameras with full-frame sensors, but also for those using camera with smaller sensors. It will be the equivalent of a 28mm lens on a Micro Four Thirds system camera and roughly a 37mm equivalent lens when used with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera.
With the demand for video lenses growing, Samyang have also declared that there will be another two lenses in the Xeen range in the second half of this year.
The 14mm and 35mm lenses will be available in early March 2016 priced at £1,599 each
