The new action camcorder from Rollei is a rugged model that records in pristine 4K and packs a variety of stills functions
The latest in Rollei’s ever increasing line of action cams is the Actioncam 500 Sunrise. It features a wide angle of view of 136 degrees, and records 4K video at up to 15 frames per second and 2.7K (2704×1524) video at up to 30 frames per second. Whilst the 4K mode may be a little limiting when compared to the competition from Sony and GoPro, the 2.7K video will allow for some digital image stabilisation to be done post capture, without too much resampling taking place.
Obviously standard Full HD 1920 x 1080 video at 60, 48, 30 and 24 fps is also offered.
Resistant to being submerged in water up to 10m deep, and capable of withstanding being dropped from up to 1.5m, the Sunrise is very much pitched to the GoPro crowd.
On the stills side of things, the action camcorder offers time-lapse functionality with up to 60-second intervals, and a burst mode that shoots at 3, 5 or 10fps.
It also comes equipped with built-in Wi-fi with a range of up to 40m, allowing for direct transfer of images to a smartphone or tablet.
Packaged with multiple holders, a stand adapter, adhesive pads and a Li-ion battery, the Rollei Actioncam Sunrise will be available immediately, priced £229.99.
