The Olympus TG-Tracker offer 4K video capture at up to 30m underwater
Just in time for the summer holidays, Olympus has unveiled it latest Tough camera, the Olympus TG-Tracker. It looks much more like an action camera compared to the more conventional compact camera style of Olympus Tough cameras but it is clearly the action camera market that Olympus has in mind, considering its key features.
For videographers the highlight is 4K, and full HD, video capture. Better still, the TG-Tracker has 5-axis stabilisation whilst recording video. Here are the full video specifications –

However, for the adventurous filmmaker it doesn’t stop there. The Tracker moniker comes from the fact that, as well as GPS, the camera can record a wealth of tracking data, so you know exactly what was going on when you were filming. The TG-Tracker can sense altitude or depth, acceleration and temperature – as well as monitoring the direction of movement. Using this information the camera can even log changes in G-force. So whether you want to know the temperature of the water at a given diving location, or what way you were facing when you made that jump on your mountain bike or snowboard, the bundled Olympus Image Track software can tell you.
The camera itself includes a flip out screen, a ultra wideangle lens that records a 204 degree field of view, and for underwater shooting there is even a 60 lumen spotlight for filming in the darker reaches of the planet’s oceans and lakes.
The Olympus TG-Tracker will be available from July 2016 priced at £279.99
