GoPro has now given its drone a name - Karma and a launch date of 2016

Just the other month GoPro revealed footage from its eagerly anticipated drone. Since then it has gone a bit quiet, but today GoPro have unveiled the name of its new product – Karma.

The GoPro Karma drone is described as an ‘ultra portable, folding drone’.  If so it would offer some pretty fierce competition to DJI, who have had the enthuisat drone market pretty much to themselves, with the excellent Phantom 3 series. The Phantom 3 Standard costs around £650, including a camera capable of shooting 2.7k video, that is stabilised via a brushless gimbal. It’s likely that GoPro Karma will go head to head with this model.

With GoPro starting to begin the marketing of the Karma, it is possible that they are gearing up for a launch at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), which begins in Las Vegas on 5th January 2016. It may also be announce to convince a few people who were thinking of buying a Phantom 3 to put their plans on hold for a while, particularly if the ‘ultra portable’ claims are true.
